The Kadampa Meditation Centre Copenhagen (formally Clear Light Kadampa Buddhist Centre) is a Buddhist meditation centre located in Copenhagen. I first began working with the centre in 2010 during my Certificate 4 – Web Design Course. Since then I have continued to work for them as a volunteer web administrator supporting them in all their online needs.
Since 2010 the website has undergone multiple re-designs. The latest, in 2016, was to create a new responsive website aimed at addressing the fact that a large number of visitors were now accessing the site via mobile devices. I worked on the new website as part of my final project in Multimedia Design at KEA and have continued to update and improve it since my graduation. The website was very well received by both the Centre and my supervisors at KEA.
The latest version of the website is built on a heavily modified theme from Elegant themes. It has been extensively modified to meet the needs of the centre and it continues to evolve as they grow. A copy of my final project report is available here. This explains the process and provides a lot of insight into the hows and whys of the project and also covers other areas like social media communication and the reasoning behind the visual style.
Through my work with the Clear Light Centre I have also built connections throughout the Nordic area and I have worked on 3 other websites for them two of which are still online: The Nordic Dharma Celebrations and Talks on Modern Buddhism. I have also assisted the associated centres in Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki with their websites to varying degrees.
